HOFFMAN — E. Wayne Berry, 66, of Hoffman, formerly of Sandoval died Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born the son of Earnest LeRoy and Treva Pauline (Durall) Berry on May 10, 1947 in Salem.
He married Deen Fogliasso on August 4, 1995 in Branson, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Deen Berry; daughter Kayla Wedekemper and husband Thomas; two granddaughters Lily and Allie Wedekemper; mother Treva Berry of Odin; sister Vicky Lewis and husband Terry of New Athens; brother-in-law Chuck Fogliasso, of Louisville, Ky; mother-in-law Dorothy Fogliasso of Sandoval; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Earnest, step-son Eddie, brother Ronald, sister Pauline, and father-in-law Charles.
Wayne served in the United States Navy, he was formerly a police officer in Marion County, and retired from IDOT in 2011. He was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and Bethel Baptist Church. Wayne treasured spending time with his granddaughters. He enjoyed camping, motorcycle riding, and hunting with his best buddy, son-in-law Thomas Wedekemper. After the accident and fighting cancer his faith in God never wavered. He will always be remembered by his smile.
Services for Mr. Berry will be 11 a.m., Monday, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Odin with Rev. Ray Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin with military rites by the Centralia American Legion Post 446.
Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran School in Hoffman, Bethel Baptist Church, or the Wayne Berry Scholarship Fund.
