THOMPSONVILLE — James Lewis Boyd Sr., 63, of Thompsonville, died at 9:32 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Salem Township Hospital in Salem.
He was born July 6, 1950, in Salem, the son of William Arthur “Art” and Marjorie “Marge” (Vanderwolk) Boyd. His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his mother of Marshall, Ill.; companion, Brenda Thomason of Kinmundy; sons James Boyd Jr., and wife Rosie of Litchfield, Joe Boyd and wife Angela of Colorado Springs, Co., and Craig Boyd and wife Brandi of Hillsboro; daughters Diana Rich of Herrin, Lara McRoy and Linda Michelle Boyd, both of Thompsonville; brother William A. Boyd Jr., and wife Anna of Mattoon; sister Linda James and husband John of Marshall; 20 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and the mother of his three sons Jean Young of Hillsboro.
He retired from the railroad and had been employed by Illinois Central/National Canadian. He was a member of the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and golfing.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
