MT VERNON – The Centralia Annies and Mt Vernon Lady Rams know when they get together it does not matter what the records are.

Outside of the rivalry and the pageantry of Senior Night, Mt Vernon was looking to stay in the hunt for their second-consecutive South Seven championship.  Currently the sit in a tie with Carbondale with one game remaining.

The Lady Rams used all of that motivation and still had trouble putting away the Annies, but in the end it was a 41-33 victory.

Mt Vernon put 3 in double figures with Clare Ryan scoring 11 and Courtney Scarbrough and Hannah Owens each finished with 10 after combining for 52 on Saturday at Marion.

Holly Mays had 14 to lead Centralia and all scorers.

The Annies are 9-16 overall and 4-5 in the league.  They will travel to Mascoutah tonight.

Mt Vernon is 13-8 and 8-1 with a road game at Cahokia tonight to clinch no worse than a share of the title.  These two teams will meet again next week in the opening round of the Massac County 3A Regionals.
