• Parking to be banned on section of Centralia street

The Centralia City Council approved an ordinance last night that will prohibit parking along a section of east Broadway between Lincoln Boulevard and Noleman Street.

The ordinance was brought before the council because vehicles must currently weave back and forth across the center line of the street when they pass parked cars. This created a safety concern when traffic was traveling east.

The new parking ordinance will take effect in 120 days, allowing drivers who normally park along that stretch of road to find alternate parking arrangements.

In other Centralia street news, country club from Gragg Street to Raccoon Lake will be temporarily closed Thursday from 9 a.m. until approximately noon for tree removal.
