CENTRALIA — Lorene Marie Zimmerman, 85 of Centralia, formerly of Patoka, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Emergency Room.
She was born January 4, 1929 in Patoka the daughter of Morton and Ida Elizabeth (Cox) Walker. She married Dale W. Zimmerman on April 6, 1946 in Vandalia. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1982.
Survivors include daughter Linda Boyles of North Liberty, Iowa; son Roger Zimmerman and special friend, Terri Smith, of Centralia; sister Ulavon Haslett and husband Louie, of Brownstown; grandchildren Kurt Zimmerman, Jeff Zimmerman, Ryan Zimmerman and wife Janie, and Stephanie Zimmerman, all of Centralia, Brian Boyles of St. Louis, Mo., Tara Witham and husband Jason, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Tonya Fittro and Kevin, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; and a son, Mark.
Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of the Patoka Christian Church, and she loved her job as an OR-Tech in surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital. Above everything she loved her family and put them first.
Services for Lorene will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Patoka Christian Church with Rev. Doug Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6- 8 p.m. Friday at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka.
