Supporters of the Centralia Orphans in the USA Today 2014 Best Mascot contest are calling all “Or-fans” to get online and orphanstart voting for the Centralia High School mascot.

With fewer than four days left in voting, the competition is quickly building their numbers and if additional voters don’t get online and start voting for the Orphans, supporters say they will lose their first place position in just a few hours.

As of Monday afternoon, the Orphans were holding a slim lead with approximately 37 percent of the votes over more than 21 percent for the St. Mary’s Area Flying Dutch of Pennsylvania

An organized effort last year enabled the Orphans to bring home the big win, with more than 25 million votes cast for the Centralia mascot. For that honor, the Orphans received $2,000 for their athletic department.

If the Orphans are able to bring home a victory this year, they will be the first team to win consecutive USA Today competitions.
