Police Chief Jeff Ray reminds everyone to remain vigilant in their neighborhoods and immediately report any suspicious activity to your local law enforcement agency.

Earlier this week Vandalia police reported that around 4:15 Tuesday afternoon, they received a report of a man attempting to get two police-lights-generic-3-jpgchildren into his truck.

The report says the incident took place near the Remann and Tower Street area. The man, described as an older white male with white hair and a white mustache approached the children, and asked them if they wanted to get into his truck. He also reportedly told them they had a nice bike and asked why they had parked the bike in the road.

He was reportedly driving a white truck with a silver toolbox in the bed. One witness told officers the truck license plate may have started with the number 846.
