CARLYLE — A 28-year-old Carlyle woman was sentenced Tuesday afternoon in Clinton County court to 30 months probation and 90 days in jail, after she pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI that led to the 2012 death of a passenger in a vehicle she was driving.
Rachel Hubbard pleaded guilty May 20, to a Class 2 charge of aggravated DUI resulting in the death of 29-year-old Berry Ryan, also of Carlyle.
Hubbard was driving westbound on Nehrt Road in a utility vehicle when she lost control east of Pipeline Road and the vehicle overturned in a cornfield.
Ryan died at the scene after being thrown from the utility vehicle. Hubbard remained in the vehicle and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese for treatment.
Per the plea agreement, a second of the same felony charge of aggravated DUI against Hubbard was dismissed.
