• Wanted by two agencies, Ina man arrested

    An Ina, Illinois man is in the Jefferson County Jail on $1,000 bond after an incident last night in Mount Vernon.

    According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, they took 50-year-old Earl M. Morlan into custody about 7:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Salem Road after he allegedly displayed a weapon.arrest1

    No one was injured, but police say he tried to get rid of the weapon and so he was charged with obstructing a peace officer and unlawful use of a blackjack or knife filed against him.

    Morlan was also wanted by Salem police, for an earlier incident that resulted in law enforcement looking for the red truck he had been driving at the time.

    According to Salem Police Chief Ron Campo, Morlan is wanted by his agency for alleged aggravated assault to a police officer and a probable traffic violation, after he reportedly lead Salem police on a high speed chase.
