CENTRALIA — Debra Lee “Debbie” Watson, age 56, of Centralia, entered heaven at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.
She was born in Hillcrest, October 16, 1957, the daughter of Donald Gene and Anna Belle (Christian) Slusher, She married Jerry Michael “Mike” Watson on October 30, 1977 at Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia, and he survives in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 36 years, Mrs. Watson is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Barrientos and husband Earl of Springfield; son Matthew Watson of Centralia; three grandchildren Alexander “Xander” Barrientos, Isabella “Ella” Barrientos and Avangeline “Ava” Barrientos, all of Springfield; sister Jo Ann Clark and husband Edward of Centralia; two brothers Donald Gene Slusher and wife Debbie of Russellville, Ark., and William Patrick Slusher and wife Christena of Cottonwood, Az.; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronald Dean Slusher.
Mrs. Watson was a member of the Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia, where she was a devoted children’s Sunday School teacher for 40 years, a member of the choir and a board member on the financial committee. She loved making greeting cards for her family and friends. Mrs. Watson enjoyed scrapbooking, shopping, taking in performances at the Fox and Muny Theatres and watching television. She liked to travel especially to Yellowstone National Park. She cherished the time she spent with your family especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Watson was an accountant at Geary & Hoyt CPA’s P.C. in Centralia. Earlier in life, she was employed with the Old National Bank (U.S. Bank) in Centralia. She attended Kaskaskia College and graduated with the Centralia Township High School’s “Class of 1975.” She has lived her whole life in Centralia.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, with Reverend Karl Barnfield officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Centralia.
Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Watson’s memory to the Eternity Baptist Church and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia.
