• Illinois House reconvenes with pension as target

    The Illinois house returns to Springfield today as lawmakers prepare to continue looking for ways to close a $96 billion funding gap in the state’s public-employee pension system.

    House members will be in session today and tomorrow, and their senate counterparts return next week. Lame-duck lawmakers failed to complete a deal to remedy the pension situation.
