The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met in regular session on Monday and received updates on the college’s safety and security plan. KC continues to review and update its emergency response procedures to ensure the safety and security of its students, staff and all who attend classes or events at the college.
All safety and security officers are trained in CPR/AED and first aid, while emergency call boxes are available on the main campus and up-to-date emergency procedure maps and safety and security contact information are in all classrooms, the main entrances to buildings and in the primary campus parking areas.
To further enhance training, an emergency plan task force is being developed made up of college personnel and local emergency responders, which will visit each KC site and make recommendations for making each site as safe and secure as possible.
The board approved a resolution acknowledging the current college-wide safety policies and endorses the initiatives in place as well as those in the planning phase to strengthen the college’s knowledge and response in providing a secure environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors and community.
