Gas prices are at an all-time high for the month of February, according to AAA Spokeswoman Beth Mosher.
Mosher says across Illinois people are paying about $3.62 for a gallon of regular unleaded, a sharp increase from January as well as increase from this time last year.
With the increase at the pump, Mosher says Chicago is the highest at $3.99 a gallon. The lowest is in the East St. Louis area with $3.54, followed by Danville and Bloomington with $3.56. Mosher says until gas prices reach the $4.25 to $4.50 range there will not be a big impact on travel.
She notes that in general the economy is turning around for the better and there are many positive signs of the economy turning around, and that typically takes precedence over how gas prices are and whether or not gas prices are going to affect travel
