Careful what you post on the internet, a Southern Illinois man is free on bond after allegedly threatening the life of a neighbor on Facebook.

Thirty-five-year-old Lyle Payne of Franklin County is charged with harassment through electronic communication. Sheriff Don Jones described Monday’s posting as a “homicidal threat.”

The threats were directed at one of Payne’s neighbors, Jones said. Deputies received a complaint of the harassment at 10 p.m. and Payne was arrested shortly after.

“People need to think be-fore making posts on social networking sites. They are going to be taken seriously. They have to be in this day and age,” Jones said.
