The prestigious award, given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), recognized 17,515 high school students from across the state as this year’s State Scholars. Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top ten percent of high school seniors from 773 different high schools across the state.

“We are very proud of all of our students and it is a testament to the academic quality of Christ Our Rock, that 25 percent of our senior class is recognized as Illinois State scholars, when the state average is only 10 percent,” said Don Duensing, executive director and principal of Christ Our Rock.

Students ranking in the top 10 percent of graduating high school seniors are eligible for honors. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores and/or students’ individual class rank at the end of the junior year of high school.

Caitlin Fuehne is the daughter of Dave and Lisa Fuehne of Centralia; Hayden Klockenga is the son of John and Diana Klockenga of Dix ; Eleanor Rueter is the daughter of Phil and Julie Rueter of Hoffman.
