Monday marks the beginning of early voting for the April 9 local elections in Illinois. The early period ends three days before election day, but State Sen. Kwame Raoul, a Chicago democrat, is sponsoring a bill to let it run right up to the day before election day.

Raoul says every opportunity should be used to allow people to vote and he think that is what the state need to move towards.

He said his bill is to prevent the problems faced by voters in Florida who waited in lines for hours to vote, noting technology is such that if you can get everything together from Saturday to Tuesday you can certainly get everything together from the day before to the following day.
