• Illinois unlikely to pass Conn. style gun laws

It’s unlikely Illinois will pass gun laws as strict as the State of Connecticut. State Rep Brandon Phelps (D-Harrisburg) says he doesn’t believe the anti-gun groups have enough support in Illinois, plus a proposal that would have banned high capacity magazines failed in a test vote last month.

Connecticut’s new law bans more than 100 types of guns plus magazine clips with more than ten bullets.  It also requires universal background checks for every gun sale and creates the first gun crimes registry.
