To ensure young drivers understand the rules of the road, state rep. John D’Amico, a Chicago democrat, sponsored a bill that would create an online drivers education course for 18 to 21 year olds who did not take the graduated driver’s license program that is easily accessible.

D’Amico says the program would be accessible at the library, or even on a home computer.

Illinois secretary of state Jesse White made an appearance in the Illinois House to support the bill as it was debated.

White says the legislation is designed to take care of some of the issues that young people have missed because they didn’t take part in the graduated driver’s license program.

House Bill 772 was sent to the senate with a unanimous vote.
