• BREAKING: SWAT team standoff in Carbondale

    breakingAccording to the Southern, a police SWAT team and other law enforcement officials are involved in what appears to be a standoff with a person in an apartment at the corner E. Chestnut and N. Robert A. Stalls in Carbondale.

    About 15 to 20 law enforcement officers, some in SWAT gear appear to be trying to make contact with a person or persons inside the complex.

    Update: One is in custody after a nearly two-hour standoff with police tactical teams Wednesday morning.

    DeAngelis Chambers [unconfirmed spelling as of this writing] was arrested by Carbondale police officers at about 11: 40 a.m. at an apartment complex on North Robert A. Stalls Avenue.

    Carbondale Police Chief Jody O’Guinn said the department received a call about a domestic dispute at 9:54 a.m. Once officers made contact, the suspect fled and led officers on a short chase that ended back at the same apartment.
