Despite delays to the kick-off of tax season, Monday is still the deadline to get your taxes to Uncle Sam. MPj03168680000[1]

For those of you who waited to the last minute, you have until midnight to get your 2012 federal income taxes in the mail. If you’re not quite ready to file, though, you can get a 6-month extension, but you’ll need to pay at least 90 percent of the amount due when you apply for that grace period. Otherwise, you’ll have late fees piling up until you have paid in full.

The IRS says that about 90 percent of the returns submitted so far have been filed electronically. It typically takes three weeks or less to receive a refund if you file online.
