• O’Fallon teen indicted on bomb charges

    A federal grand jury indicted an 18-year-old high school student after the discovery of bomb-making material at the teen’s home.courtgavel_1353175955264_328934_ver1.0_320_240

    Thomas Lee Stanton of Lebanon yesterday was indicted on a charge of unlawful possession of a destructive device.

    The indictment alleges Stanton possessed one or more explosive devices, including a “cricket” bomb made from carbon-dioxide cartridges, fuses and explosive powder.

    Stanton was arrested Wednesday at O’Fallon Township High School. authorities say others are being detained in connection with the case. They have not yet been identified.

    As a precaution, the high school’s Smiley campus was locked down for more than an hour Wednesday authorities say a search of the school turned up no suspicious materials.

    It wasn’t immediately determined if Stanton has retained a lawyer.
