REPORTS INDICATE THE SCHOOL RECEIVED A NOTE ABOUT A BOMB IN THE SCHOOL, SO LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS CONTACTED AND STUDENTS HAVE ALL BEEN DISMISSED.
IN A STATEMENT, SALEM POLICE SAID THE DEPARTMENT IS CURRENTLY ON THE SCENE (9 A.M. THURSDAY), AFTER A TEACHER RECEIVED A BOMB THREAT DIRECTED AT THE SCHOOL
LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS SWEPT THE SCHOOL AND AT THE SCHOOL’S REQUEST, A BOMB SNIFFING DOG HAS BEEN CALLED IN TO FURTHER SEARCH THE SCHOOL. SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION MADE THE DECISION TO CANCEL SCHOOL FOR THE DAY.

Update: Neither a sweep by officers and a sweep by a Secretary of State bomb sniffing dog revealed signs of a bomb Thursday at Franklin Park Middle School in Salem.
A written bomb threat was found by a teacher early Thursday morning, which resulted in police being called and students eventually being dismissed for the remainder of the day.
Regular classes and schedules will resume Friday.
