Two high school sophomores have been arrested in connection with a Friday bomb threat at Zeigler-Royalton High School. bombthreat

Darrell Dalton, 17, of Royalton and 17-year-old Zachary Barnett, of Christopher, were taken into custody after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the high school a little before 8:30 last Friday morning.

After the school was evacuated, a K-9 unit from the Secretary of State Police searched the school for explosive devices, but none were found.

Reports indicate Dalton and Barnett are tentatively charged with felony disorderly conduct, conveying a bomb threat to a school.

A similar incident took place last Thursday at Franklin Park Middle School in Salem, also with no explosives or suspicious materials located during a search of the school.
