A 20-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested Monday by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies, while the passenger of the vehicle he was driving at the time is still being sought.

According to deputy reports, they attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Kevin J.  Johnson at Robinett and Rexford streets, but Johnson allegedly sped away instead.

As the deputy pursued the vehicle, in the 600 block of Saddler, the passenger reportedly jumped out of the still moving vehicle, fell to the ground and dropped his driver’s license.

Despite being able to successfully elude the deputy, as law enforcement is now in possession of his driver’s license, they are aware of his identity. Johnson reportedly stopped the vehicle a short time later and was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he posted $150 bond and was released.
