The Mt Vernon Police Department responded to a burglary yesterday at a residence on Apricot. After a preliminary investigation, officers made contact with two suspects, 18-year-old Aston D. Trotter and a male juvenile, at 29th and Peach.
The male juvenile was wanted on a Jefferson County warrant, possessed cannabis and resisted arrest. The two subjects were also found in possession of stolen property.
Detectives and officers continued the investigation by searching Trotter’s residence and locating additional stolen items from the original residential burglary and another residential burglary that had not yet been reported.
Following an interview with detectives, the two were linked to a third burglary in the fruit bowl area. Both subjects have been charged with possession of stolen property and burglary and are being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
