The Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the first of four summer movies at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Veterans Park, located at 800 south 27th Street.

The movie, Madagascar 3, is free and will be shown on a large projection screen just north of the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building. If the weather is poor the movie will be shown inside the community building.

The parks & recreation staff will also hold a pre-activity beginning at 7:30 p.m., with a family treasure hunt throughout the entire park.

The public is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks. For more information please contact the Mount Vernon Parks & Recreation Department at 618-242-6890
