Investigators say Julius Esmon’s body was found Friday, near Jamestown. Foul play is not suspected.

Highland police say Esmon was reported missing Wednesday, after he was last seen that afternoon at a bank and had not returned home the previous night.

Clinton County Coroner Phil Moss says it appears Esmon drove into flood waters on Keyesport Road, just east of Jamestown, and was swept off his feet after exiting his vehicle and attempting to walk to safety.

According to Moss, Esmon was found in about 10 inches of water, however, the water Tuesday was much higher after heavy rains earlier in the week. Moss pronounced Esmon dead on the scene at 11:17 Friday morning.

Firefighters responding to a report Friday of a vehicle stalled in high way just east of Jamestown found Esmon’s body nearby.

    Funeral arrangements are pending.
