A Friday morning accident resulted in injuries for a 64-year-old Sandoval man when the tractor and brush hog he was driving on U.S. Highway 51 was struck and flipped over.farm equipment

Dennis Day was driving his tractor on Highway 51, when he was struck in the rear by an SUV driven by 28-year-old Brandon McClelland, also of Sandoval.

Reports indicate a vehicle between Day and McClelland moved into the passing lane to avoid hitting Day and McClelland didn’t have time to react before striking Day, causing his tractor to flip.

The glass in the cab was broken in the impact and Day was partially ejected. He is home now and recovering from his injuries.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for farm equipment on the roads, as it does not move as fast as other traffic and is not as maneuverable

A motorist in Franklin County was killed last week on Illinois 14, when his car struck an oncoming tractor.
