Thirty-three-year-old John Jones II of Jerseyville must also spend 18 months of home confinement and was fined $1,000 during his sentencing in East St. Louis, where he pleaded guilty in March.

Authorities say that in May 2010, Jones sold five firearms to a customer of his Discount House Inc. despite knowing or having reasonable cause to believe the buyer was unlawfully using a controlled substance.

U.S. District Judge David Herndon ordered Jones to spend six months in home confinement, followed by a year in prison before serving another year of home confinement after his release.
