OKAWVILLE — A local lawmaker is urging residents wanting to get more information about the state’s new concealed-carry
law to visit a new Illinois state police website.
Okawville senator Dave Luechtefeld says the website is at isp.state.il.us. When you get to the site, follow the “concealed carry” link on the sidebar to the right for information on qualifications, applying for a license, associated costs, regulations and prohibitions.
There’s also information on such issues as where to obtain firearms training and the type of firearms residents can carry.
Although they’ve begun work on the licensing procedure, state police estimate it will take up to six months to set up the system and another three months to process and screen applicants.
