The Justice Department’s seeks an injunction that would forbid 60-year-old Ronald Manis of Carbondale from preparing tax returns for others.

The lawsuit accuses Manis of routinely preparing individual and corporate federal tax returns improperly claiming deductions that understate the clients’ tax liabilities. That alleged wrongdoing includes claiming as business expenses such non-deductible things as lavish personal vacations.

Manis was released from federal prison Saturday after serving time for failing to file his own federal income taxes for 2003 through 2006.

Manis told The Associated Press on Tuesday he was unaware of the Justice Department’s lawsuit.
