A Mount Vernon woman was taken into custody after injuring a police officer. According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, they responded to a call from a worker at Geo’s on the 2400 block of Broadway in Mount Vernon Tuesday afternoon that 49-year old Melanie L. Mifflin had allegedly taken a swing at him with her scissors.

She then left the business. Officers quickly caught up to her, but she allegedly swung her scissors at the officer and cut him. He was treated for the hand injury.
