At 2:50 p.m. Monday the Mt Vernon/Jefferson County High Risk Team executed a search warrant on a home in the 300 block of North Sixth Street in Mt Vernon based on information that methamphetamine was being produced and sold from the residence.

The team secured the residence and detained two people, 44-year-oldĀ  Angela R. Green and 35-year-old Lori A. McKenzie.

A search of the residence by narcotics detectives resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine, drug equipment and items used in methamphetamine production.

Due to the hazardous nature of the chemicals found at the residence the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team responded to assist in securing chemicals and items used during methamphetamine production.

Green and McKenzie were charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, unlawful disposal of methamphetamine waste and possession of drug equipment.

Both women were taken to the Jefferson County Jail where they remain pending the filing of formal charges and the setting of bail.
