• Marion County makes second tax distribution

    Marion County Treasurer Patti Hahn has made the second distribution of this year’s property tax collections. Hahn reports $8,904,059 has been made to the various taxing bodies in the county.

    Schools will receive the most money, $5,425,340. Cities and their tax increment financing districts will receive $1,071,202. Marion County Government will get $1,039,932. Fire departments will share $420,435, road and bridge districts $407,715, townships $319,976, the Centralia Regional Library $109,976, Salem Township Hospital $69,189, the Salem Airport $24,710, Multi-Township Assessing District $14,318, and the Odin Cemetery $1,266.

    Hahn reports the second installment of the real estate tax for Marion County is due September 25th. The late penalty on the first installment is currently 3%.

    The Mobile Home Tax was due on August 14th. The late fee is currently $25.00. That amount will increase to $50 on September 15th, 2013.

    Taxes can be paid at the courthouse, all banks in Marion County, the drop box on the west side of the courthouse, through ePay, or by mail. Those coming to the courthouse are reminded to leave their cell phone in their car and enter through the east door.
