Work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday as Union Pacific crews will make repairs to the crossing and could last until 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The road will remain closed throughout Monday night. Motorists should follow the marked detour routes as no traffic will be permitted though the construction area at anytime during the closure next week.

Casey Avenue from south 19th to south 22nd street in Mt. Vernon will also be closed starting Monday.

Work should run from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. as the Mt. Vernon street department will be milling the road in preparation for paving later in the week. Motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes on Monday, but if in the area, watch out for workers, equipment and other motorists.
