• Vacant Selmaville home destroyed by Friday fire

    A vacant home that was in the process of being torn down at 3043 Selmaville Road southwest of Salem was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon. GETTY_E_12312_Fire

    According to the Salem Fire Department, the single story vacant house, had not been lived in for some time and was in the process of being torn down.

    When firefighters arrived on the scene, the home was totally engulfed in flames.

    While the owners were aware of the fire, they were not involved, as firefighters report they had not been to the home in approximately 30 days.

    The cause of the fire was not determined, but there were no utilities and no one was supposed to have been in the home for the last month. Odin Firemen provided mutual aide assistance.

    Selmaville Rd was blocked just south of Selmaville School as firefighters battle the fire.
