A middle-aged suburban Chicago man became ill with West Nile in late August and has died. This follows on the heels of the first Illinois death due to the mosquito-spread disease which also occurred in northern Illinois, and was reported last week in Logan County.

West Nile positive birds, mosquitoes, and/or human cases have been reported in 59 counties. So far 10 human cases have been reported, including one last month of a Jefferson County teen.
