    For many this is a three day weekend. Due to Columbus Day being recognized Monday, most government offices, schools and banks will be closed. But it’s a good weekend to enjoy some local events. 3 day weekend

    On Saturday the city of Centralia is hosting “Celebrate Centralia” from 3 until 9 p.m. at the Bell Tower Park. A festival of art, wine, and music, this event will feature local artists, musicians, and food vendors, award winning wineries, vineyards and area craft beer brewers.     Also on Saturday, “Apple Fest” will be held at Hawkins Schwartz Orchard at 1942 Copple Road in Centralia. There will be jump toys, face painting, a straw maze, music, and more.

    Then on Monday, the Centralia Area Historic Museum at 204 South Locust Street in Centralia will host the “History Series.” Guest speaker is Ruthie Shelton who will speak on her book “Inside the Shelton Sang”. This event starts at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.
