The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has apprehended a 35-year-old man who was the subject of a manhunt Tuesday, after a vehicle reported stolen in Montana was found crashed in rural Odin.

Herbert Richardson was ultimately found hiding in a tree and was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest

According to reports, deputies found the vehicle around 9:50 Tuesday morning in a wooded off Jenkins Road between Westline and Hoots Chapel Road in rural Odin. The engine of the vehicle was reportedly still warm when it was found.

Deputies were unable to locate the driver, who was believed to have a record in Montana for criminal trespass and was also been mentioned as suspect in a theft and stolen vehicle case. A search for the driver quickly ensued.

As a precaution, the sheriff’s department asked anyone living in the area to make sure all their vehicles and buildings were locked and for anyone seeing a suspicious person in the area to contact the sheriff’s department.
