• Centralia tornado sirens sound after power outage

    An early Wednesday morning traffic accident resulted in many people in Centralia waking up to the sound of tornado tornado sirensirens.

    According to Centralia police, at approximately 5:45 Wednesday morning, a man driving in the 600 block of South Hickory struck a power pole, knocking out in power in the area, including to the police department and its radios.

    Backup power at the police station did not immediately kick in with the sudden power outage, which resulted in the tornado sirens being triggered.

    A city electrician was called in and has repaired the problem.
