Ameren Illinois gas supply director Ken Dothage, says because of their price hedging and storage strategies, they anticipate that the gas supply portion of a customer bill will be lower this winter than last.
According to Dothage, last year customers paid, on average, $0.57 per therm. This year customers are estimated to pay $0.52-$0.55 per therm, which is a five percent reduction.
Despite the lower cost per therm, customers could see a higher heating bill this year because temperatures last year were higher than average.
