According to Mt. Vernon Mayor Mary Jane Chesley, the tower on the west side of town was selected from nearly 200 other tanks and towers as “tank of the year” in a Tnemec Company competition, and will be featured on the cover of a 2014 Tnemec promotional water tank calendar.

The look of the 50,000-gallon capacity tower is part of the city’s comprehensive plan and was designed to support the city’s 2012 rebranding project. It includes the brand’s colors, logo, and tag line, “creativity redefined.”

The branding efforts are on display throughout the community in areas such as letterhead designs and publications.

HMG Engineers, Inc. provided the water tower’s engineering design.

The tank was constructed by CB&I and the painting was done by Trikote Industrial Coatings, Llc.

Plans are being made for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and “tank of the year” trophy presentation.
