• CPD detective running for Marion County sheriff

    Marion County Sheriff Jerry DeVore will face opposition in the November 2014 general election, as a republican candidate election2014submitted nominating petitions late Wednesday to appear on the ballot.

    Centralia police detective Rich Stevenson will be seeking his party’s nomination in the March 18 primary election.

    So far both Stevenson, a republican, and DeVore, a democrat, are unopposed in the primary, pointing to a November 2014 general election runoff between the two men.

    Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Marion County courthouse was closed both Thursday and Friday, leaving potential candidates just one more day to file nominating petitions, as the deadline is Dec. 2.
