CARBONDALE – McKenna Miller showed why she is the defending South Seven Most Valuable Player as she pumped in 18 points in Carbondale’s (2-0, 1-0) 56-43 home win over the Centralia Annies (1-6, 1-1).
Abby Holtkamp was the game’s leading scorer as the Annie’s center went for 19 points in the loss.
Centralia was down 17-13 after the first quarter, but it was the 2nd quarter that would hurt as they were outscored 17-10 to trail at the half by double digits. The two teams would play the third quarter even at 12-12 before Carbondale would outscore the Annie’s by a pair in the final frame.
Centralia’s JV won 59-35.
Up next for Centralia, they will host their first home game of the year welcoming the Mt Vernon Lady Rams.

SANDOVAL – The Sandoval Lady Blackhawks moved to 5-0 on the season following their 56-20 home win over the visiting South Central Lady Cougars (0-6).
Kylie Parson had 17 and Christonia Saddler added 14 points and 6 rebounds for Sandoval. The Hawks also got a solid game from Bethany Kunick who finished with 13 points, 7 assists and 7 steals.
Only 3 Lady Cougars scored in the game with Abby King leading the way with 8.
