Community Events

October 31st

Marion Rehab & Nursing Center’s Annual Trick or Treat will be held during Trick or Treat hours.  Lots of Candy and popcorn for all!  For more information call Andrea Arview-Kincheloe at 997-1365.

November 1st

A Chicken and Dumplin’ Dinner and Silent Auction will be held at the Goreville School Cafeteria for the Benefit of Bill Hancock. The event will run from 4pm until 7pm. Donations of $7 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

November 2nd

The Nightshield Zombie Run will take place at Little Egypt Off Road. Registration for the 5k is $25 and $10 for the Fun Run, and can be done online at www.thenightshield.org. Check-in is at 3pm with the run starting at 4 and awards at 5. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Nightshield Children’s Shelter.

November 3rd to December 1st

Friends of the Sallie Logan Library in Murphysboro will be holding the annual silent auction from Monday, November 3 to Monday, December 1. Hours are Monday-Thursday 10 am to 7 pm, and Friday-Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm at the Library, 1808 Walnut, Murphysboro. Historically over 100 theme baskets, original art and gift certificates have been offered. All proceed support such Library projects as
childrens summer reading programs, large print books, books on CD, e books and online genealogy and reference resources.   Membership to Friends of the Sallie Logan Library is open to all.will held the annual silent auction from Monday, November 3 to Monday, December 1. November 7th-8th

Card Masters 31-hour gaming event will be held to the benefit of the Children’s Miracle Network. The event will be held at Card Masters in Marion, and will start at noon on the 7th and run until 9pm on the 8th. The buy-in for the games will be $6.00. Yugioh!, Magic, Pokemon, Pathfinder, Munchkin and others will  be hosted. If the game you love to play does not have a buy-in, a table fee of $5.00 per table top game and person playing will be used. You can also have friends, family, and co-workers sponsor you, as well. November 15th

Giant City Schools will be hosting a 5k/Turkey Trot. To register you can either email Belinda Hill at bhill@gcs130.org, or register at the event.  The Turkey Trot will start at 9am.
