Disaster Preparedness Made Simple: a two hour seminar that will focus on simple solutions to prepare your home and family for natural and man-made disasters that may affect our area. The event will be held at Harbor Church (Lake of Egypt) 12619 Sarilda Lane, Marion. This seminar will offer simple steps the average person can use to get prepared. Topics will include types of disasters that can impact our area, how families are affected, preparing a simple disaster kit and making a family emergency plan.
Speakers will feature Brad Roberts from Start Now And Prepare, with representatives from the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency and the Lake of Egypt Fire Department. This is a free event and open to the public.
The Williamson County Shrine Club’s All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry will be held at the Shrine Club! Lunch will run from 11am until 1pm, and dinner will be served from 5-7pm. Children under 7 get in free, tickets for the event cost an $8 donation!

Kindergarten Registration for Marion Unit #2 Schools will be taking place at the Marion Unit #2 Administration office at 1700 W. Cherry Street. The registration is for all children in Marion and Creal Springs who will be 5-years-old by September 1st./ The Wednesday registration begins 9am and runs through 12pm. The Thursday session will start at 3pm and end at 7, and the Friday session begins at 9am and will run through 3pm. Parents will need their soon-to-be big kindergartner’s birth certificate, their immunization records, and a proof of Marion residency!
“A Splash of Triva Night” will be held at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale from 6-9pm. This event will feature a silent auction featuring items from local businesses as well as a 50/50 raffle. Funds raised from the event will go to support the Super Splash Park Outdoor Aquatic Center and towards professional development opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in the Sport Studies Association.
The annual Princess Flame Pageant and Crowning of Old King Coal will take place at the West Frankfort High School’s Paschedag Auditorium starting at 7pm. There are three categories for the Princess Flame pageant, ages 8-12, 13-16 and 17-24. For rules and applications to the pageant, email firstname.lastname@example.org
The 25th Annual “Chuck Garnati Golf Day” will be held at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Energy. Registration opens at 8am and the 18 hole scramble beings at 10am sharp! The entry fee is $75 per player or $450 for a full 6 player team, and includes 18-holes, a cart, lunch and lots of great prizes! All proceeds from the event go towards local programs for abused and neglected children. Flyers and signup sheets will be available at the Williamson County Courthouse and at several other locations. Space is limited, so you’ll want to sign up early!

Marion Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry will be held every Friday during the Lenten season. The event will run from 4:30 until 7pm. Admission is $10 for adults, and $6 for children. There will be great food and games during each event, including cash giveaways! For more information, call 997-9318.
Lifesource Church of West Frankfort’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held at West Frankfort City Park starting at 1pm. The event is open to children aged 2-12.
Good Friday (April 3)
The West Frankfort Ministerial Alliance Good Friday Cross Carry will take place in the parking lot across the street from the West Frankfort High School gymnasium. The event will begin at 9am. People of all ages and denominations are invited to join in the event. The Cross will be carried from the parking lot to Dixie Cream donuts, and back.
Good Friday Community-Wide Worship Service will be held at the Harvest Field Church in West Frankfort staring at 7pm.
Southern Illinois Worship Center’s “The Greatest Truth” Good Friday Service will be held at 4pm and 7pm in Herrin.
Easter Sunday (April 5)
Southern Illinois Worship Center’s “The Greatest Truth” Easter Service will be held at 9am, 11am, and 1pm in Herrin.
