Banterra Bank is holding their second Annual Food Drive. Non-perishable items can be donated at any Banterra Bank location and will be donated to local food pantries.
The Good Samaritan Ministries food pantry will also be collecting Christmas-related food items and monetary donations throughout November. Organizers hope to provide clients with extra food for a holiday meal. Donations may be made at University Baptist Church, 700 S. Oakland Street or Good Samaritan Emergency Shelter, 701 S. Marion Street, both in Carbondale.
The First United Methodist Church of Marion is taking donations for a family who lost their home and 4-year-old daughter Lux, in a fire. The church is accepting donations of clothing during its regular office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm until the end of December.
New clothing is preferred:
- Boy’s clothing: Jeans/Pants (no information), Shirts size 10/12, Shoe size 6-7
- Women’s clothing: Jeans size 0-3, Shirts size small, Shoe size 6 1/2.
- Men’s clothing: Pants/Jeans size 33 waist 30 length, Shirts size large, Shoe size 9.
Candy Cane Lane in West Frankfort is open from 6pm until 10pm every night. This year Candy Cane Lane features new displays from Frozen, Micky and Minnie Mouse, and a nativity blacklight scene.
CASA of Williamson County will be holding their “Dine to Donate” event at the 20’s Hideout Steakhouse in Marion. The event will run from 5pm until 9pm. 10% of all proceeds will benefit the CASA program to advocate for local children who suffer from abuse or neglect.
The Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree” Gift Drawing will take place at the Salvation Army Building in Marion. Illinois Star Centre Mall in Marion will display a holiday tree decorated with Angel Tree tags (tags provided by The Salvation Army) that represent a child or teenager who might not otherwise receive any gifts this holiday season. You may donate toward giving them the Christmas they deserve!
The Williamson County Board of Tourism will be holding their annual Bike Giveaway at the Pavilion of the City of Marion. This celebration helps to provide bicycles to Southern Illinois children during the Christmas season that may not otherwise get one. Santa will help draw for prizes! Bouncy house and refreshments will be available.
Blend – A Doo Wop Christmas will perform at the Herrin Civic Center on December 20th in a benefit for the Brewer Family Foundation. Doors open at 6pm Concert starts at 7pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at The Herrin Civic Center and The Brewer Family Foundation at 2 North Park Ave in Herrin.
Santa will be at the Brewer Family Foundation building from noon until 5pm. You can bring your camera and get free holiday pictures with Santa, and also register to win a free $100 gift card from Toys R Us!
The Annual St. Francis Xavier Church Cookie Walk will take place from 9am until noon! Homemade Cookies only $6.50 per pound. Also new and gently-used Christmas and holiday items will be for sale.
The CASAs for CASA winner will be decided at the Illinois Star Centre Mall. CASA of Williamson County is celebrating 21 years of CASAs for CASA playhouses. This year CASA of Williamson County is celebrating in a big way, we have six area high schools participating, all eager to win bragging rights for the best playhouse and a traveling trophy. Each high school has created a very unique playhouse and tickets will be sold for a chance to win these great playhouses. All proceeds benefit CASA of Williamson County.
