The “Sunset Concert Series” in Carbondale will continue every Thursday night until July 30th. Concerts will alternate locations between the steps of the Shryock Auditorium on the SIU Campus and Turley Park, with each concert starting at 7pm. Admission is free.
Season tickets are now on sale for the 2015 Saluki Football season. Get your preferred seats now. The Dawgs have a new, lower price to welcome fans to Saluki Stadium this fall. If you want to take a smaller bite of the season; mini-season packages are also available. You’ll be able to secure your choice of three games during the Salukis’ run to greatness. And don’t forget that Paw Passes are available – that will get you unlimited admission to all home volleyball, women’s basketball and softball games.
Paradise Alley Players Theatre Company of Marion will be hosting the Children’s Theatre Workshop! This summer program is intended to introduce children ages 8 to 16 to the world of acting and theatre, as well as allowing seasoned child actors to enhance their skills! Registration will take place at 8:30 on Monday morning, and the instructional portion of the camp will be from 9am until 3pm every day, ending with a short play at 7pm on Friday! Registrations fees are $50 for one child and $40 for each additional child you are signing up. John A. Logan College Athletics is selling Southern Illinois Miners tickets to the game against the Gateway Grizzlies to raise money for the Athletic Department. Thanks to the Miners, the athletic department will receive $7 for every $8 ticket sold on that date. Tickets may be purchased at JALC’s Office of College Relations.
The Pink Ladies of So. Ill. Benefit for the Cure Golf Scramble will be held at the Red Hawk Golf Club in Pinckneyville\Tamaroa. Registration begins at noon and the scramble will begin with a “Shotgun Start” at 1pm. The event will close with an Awards dinner at 6pm. Registration is $60 per person, and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, dinner, prizes, closest to pin contest, and entry into the longest drive contest. The Dinner is open to the public for $15. Proceeds will benefit the Southern Illinois Pink Ladies Benefit for the Cure.
Carbondale Boys and Girls Club Summer Programs
The Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale summer program registration is open! This summer’s programs will focus on music around the world and in nature. There will be 8 weeks of camps. We have programming available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our morning program (Sunrise Club) is from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and breakfast and lunch is included. Fees for the morning programs are $35.00 per week. Morning programs include Math, Reading and Cultural Experiences. Morning programs are limited to youth in Kindergarten (Must be 6 years old) through youth entering 6th grade. In order to measure summer learning we will be conducting pre and post assessments in reading and math. The afternoon program (Siesta Club) is from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, lunch is included. The afternoon program will include team building/leadership, art, cultural experiences, and sports/fitness rotations. Membership for both the morning and afternoon programs is required. The membership fee is $10.00 for the summer or $18.00 for a year. Membership is the only fee for the Siesta Club. Below is a list of the summer programs. There will be special programs in the afternoon geared specifically for middle and high school youth.
