Registration for the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale Summer Programs are underway now! Check below for more details on their great, learning focused summer programs!
Friends of Ron Schuzer will be holding a “Pancake Breakfast” at the 1st Church of God in Marion from 9am until 1pm! The food is free but donations are appreciated. There will also be a silent auction held with donations from many local community members! All proceeds will benefit the family of Ron Schuzer, who is fighting cancer.
The Laborers of Illinois’ Second Annual Scavenger Hunt will be held starting at 10am. Sign up will be held at Black Diamond Harley Davidson, where there will be food, a live auction and a DJ! Donations are $20 for a single rider and $25 per couple. Proceeds go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Curves Team of Benton BINGO will be held at Benton Eagles. Doors open at 6pm event starts at 7. Food available, lots of prizes $10.00 donation for set of 9 cards. Proceeds benefit the Franklin County Relay for Life Organization.
The “Custard Stand” in Sesser will provide benefits on all sales from 5 pm to close to the “Taste of Hope” fundraiser and a portion of the proceeds will benefit “Penny’s Colon Cleansers” Relay for Life team.
The 25th Annual “Chuck Garnati Golf Day” will be held at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Energy. Registration opens at 8am and the 18 hole scramble beings at 10am sharp! The entry fee is $75 per player or $450 for a full 6 player team, and includes 18-holes, a cart, lunch and lots of great prizes! All proceeds from the event go towards local programs for abused and neglected children. Flyers and signup sheets will be available at the Williamson County Courthouse and at several other locations. Space is limited, so you’ll want to sign up early!
A portion of all proceeds at Benton La Fiesta from 5pm to 10pm will benefit the Chiming for a Cure Relay for Life Team.
Members of the Marion Garden Club will host their annual summer garden tour from 9am until 3pm. $5 Tour tickets are available through garden club members and Etcetera Flowers in Marion. The tour will feature six Marion homes that highlight what homeowners can do with some creative thinking and a lot of hard work. Tickets will also be sold the day of the tour, at the Williamson County Fairground. At the fairgrounds will also be some plants for sale and a display for “Saving the Monarchs.” Proceeds from the tour will fund the club’s many civic projects.
Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s Benton will be held from 7-10am. $8 for 3 pancakes bacon and juice/coffee or milk other drinks are available for purchase. The proceeds will benefit the Applebee’s Relay for Life team.
Trivia night to benefit Starks Relay for Life team will be held at Benton Elks Lodge, doors open at 6 pm event starts at 7, food available $12.00 per person-tables available

The Franklin County “Relay for Life” will be held from 6pm until midnight starting at West Frankfort Community Park in West Frankfort.
Carbondale Boys and Girls Club Summer Programs
The Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale summer program registration is open! This summer’s programs will focus on music around the world and in nature. There will be 8 weeks of camps. We have programming available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our morning program (Sunrise Club) is from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and breakfast and lunch is included. Fees for the morning programs are $35.00 per week. Morning programs include Math, Reading and Cultural Experiences. Morning programs are limited to youth in Kindergarten (Must be 6 years old) through youth entering 6th grade. In order to measure summer learning we will be conducting pre and post assessments in reading and math. The afternoon program (Siesta Club) is from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, lunch is included. The afternoon program will include team building/leadership, art, cultural experiences, and sports/fitness rotations. Membership for both the morning and afternoon programs is required. The membership fee is $10.00 for the summer or $18.00 for a year. Membership is the only fee for the Siesta Club. Below is a list of the summer programs. There will be special programs in the afternoon geared specifically for middle and high school youth.
