Station Info

From high atop a tower with bright lights just North of Mount Vernon, WMIX 94.1 FM pumps out 50,000 watts of Today's Hot Country to ALL of southern Illinois and portions of other states. Our format is Hot Country--also considered to be Top 40 Country.

During the day, WMIX AM 940 blasts 5,000 watts from the same location as WMIX-FM. At nighttime, however, AM 940s transmission shifts to a site east of Woodlawn and evolves into a directional signal with 1,500 watts. During the day, AM 940 can be heard from Peoria to beyond Paducah, St. Louis to Terre Haute. At night, AM 940 is primarily east/west with a signal stretching west of St. Louis to east of Evansville.

When not airing news or talk, AM 940's music is Adult Standards--or "America Best Music."

WMIX's Mission is to be entertaining, fun, informative and community-oriented. Our job is to stay on top of what's happening and to play the best mix of music with relevant news and sports sprinkled in.

You can find the WMIX Studios in Mt. Vernon, just off of Broadway (Illinois Highway 15) approximately 10 blocks east of Interstates 57/64.

Reporter is expected to make and maintain contacts (with assistance of the News Director and other staff) throughout the community, county, and surrounding areas in order to properly gather reliable information to write and produce news stories. Reporter must be willing to share news content within the department and/or with his/her sister stations in the market.  Election times, days with weather-related events, or large news events may require extra hours to properly cover the stories.
